Email alias: Receive emails addressed to the alias only
Hi Thunderbird
I created an email alias "ani***@fed*****.org" for my gmail id years ago. I wanted to add this alias to Thunderbird to receive emails addressed only to "ani***@fed****.org" and reply to those emails and sender must show as "ani****@fed*****.org"?
Currently I receive emails addressed to both ani*****@fed****.org and ani*****@gmail.com in my gmail. I receive a lot of emails in both email-ids and I miss to read emails from "ani****@fed*****.org".
I want to use Thunderbird to receive emails addressed only to "ani********@fed**.org", which means emails addressed to "ani*****@gmail.com mustn't arrive in Thunderbird inbox. Is it possible?
Regards, Anish

An alias id isn't a real id. It 'tags along' to the real id for internet mail distribution. You could set up a filter to separate such messages if your intent is to keep them separate from the other account.
@david
Thanks for your reply.
Where do I create this filter?, in Thunderbird or Gmail?
Regards, Anish
Do it in Thunderbird at Tools>Message Filters. You will also want to add the alias, if not already done, as an identity within Thunderbird. That will allow you to respond with that alias. Setting that up is done at Accountsettings>Account>message identities (which is a button at lower right of pane below the SMTP server settings.)
Thanks for the suggestion.
I have added the alias. Now what changes must I make inorder to show the alias email (ani*****@fed****.org) instead of the gmail (ani*****@gmail.com) on the reciepient side?
Those settings are where you set the alias. There is a REPLY TO entry there. You can test this out by sending email to yourself.
