When prompted by automatic update box, clicking on update brings box on screen that says "connecting to update server". Indicator keeps showing that it's attempting to connect to server, but nothing happens. Been trying to do this for at least a few weeks with no result. What's going on (in layman's language)? Shall I just ignore? Actually I'm not really pleased with the last update to 5.0. Can't get rid of box for moving firefox application to toolbar (bar across bottom of screen showing various programs).

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
