While downloading any file, the option of "open with" is missing after the recent update. Browser settings is updated with "Always Ask" but still open with option is missing instead files are asked to save.

Firefox 98 changed the download behavior from "Always Ask" to "Save". You can right-click a file in the download panel during the download or once the download has finished if you want to open the file in an external application. Curently the download panel always opens when you download a file, otherwise you need to click the download icon on the Navigation toolbar. All files are downloaded to the default download folder unless you use "Always Ask" and files you previously opened are no longer saved to the temp folder but are also saved to the Downloads folder.

In Firefox 97 and 98+ there have been changes to the download panel.

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page to prevent opening the download panel on each download.

  • browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
