laptop freezing on amazon when search started, restart four times now, other sites seem to be fine. there are extension s on here that i did not ask for, one of them is amazon, ebay, who knows what else, can they be removed please, thank you, if not, guess its time to start using edge or something else. now getting access but when start search for product internet freezes n goes into buffer or waiting, rotating arrow, just now realize theres extensions on here that i didn't select , i'm guessing firefox put these on for PAYMENT FOR ORDER FLOW. just updated last nite, using cord to phones hotspot aka tethering . are we having problems today or is it all me?

Hi oetkbtytr, Those are actually plug-ins for the built-in search engines.

Try clearing cookies and site data. Log back in and see if the problem persists. If it does, disable Ghostery and restart Firefox. Then try again.

seems to be working now or not freezing. the "error" message i got said the amazon and ebay "extentions" were causing the freezing. the last time it froze up, i cud not even move mouse to start switch for bout five minutes. firefox was still froze but i had mouse control again, got to restart and opened explorer... i switched to explorer this morning, did not sign into amazon. WOW its super fast, whole pages loaded in one second...whatever you guys are adding its def slowing down the latency of websites loading. i always thot it was my internet connection. i have proven myself wrong. so why the big slow down? explorer knows something you dont....maybe...

problem NOT SOLVED..was fine until 6ish . i needed that order from amazon , got threw search ,was ready to select "add to cart" froze up..able to close window from task bar, tried again, added to cart, boom did it again, this time had to restart , so tried explorer nope wudn't let me sign in, guess cause i deleted all cookies n site data. tried amazon app on laptop, it wudn't let me sign in either, i have had to jump back n forth now for 3 hrs getting passwords, updating passwords , i dont know why i listened to you, i knew it wud forget all my passwords, so from now forward i 'm gonna have to write down every freaking password to every freaking site i ever go to, this is so aggravating , i dont have time for this. ....so only on amazon, possible to delete those extension s, where are they? i dont have ebay acct. anyway ....what other fixes you practice on my laptop with? lets find those extensions and delete , turn off,

Plug-ins for search engines are built-in - they can't be removed. You can disable them. Menu -> Settings -> Search -> Search Shortcuts

You can try these troubleshooting methods -

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode

Troubleshoot issues related to add-ons https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-related-to-add-ons

only one checked is duck duck go, theres no "disable," theres "remove" and i think i have removed these before cause they kept showing up and unchecking didn't help, so i removed, Q. do they reload after new update ,so i shud remove after latest update? when is best time to run troubleshooting operation, anytime or when it happens, or after i restart? thanx i do appreciate your help, after rereading my last post, none of that frustration was toward you, its all websites that those cookies do, and dont do. if i had a dime for website that forgot what cpu was i'd be rich. i use them daily, amazon n verizon are worst not knowing who i am daily, i will try troubleshooting things tomorrow . afterthat this thing is getting thrown out backdoor..

Hi

What level of enhanced tracking protection do you have set?

(This support article may help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-desktop#w_adjust-your-global-enhanced-tracking-protection-settings )

i dont know what that means. i ran troubleshooting for firefox it was fine that way. i havent ran the one for add-ons , seems lil daunting to me. the problem has not reoccured , but i haven't had to search amazon again, i did uninstall a amazom app that was a preloaded app from HP on laptop, that is one that i have removed before, only because i use website version, less clutter, i do NOT know what plug-ins Robertj was referring to, i use ghostery only free or simple version if thats what tracking you mean other what firefox has with this version, i dont know enough to start changing settings, and i wish i can be more helpful.

this has become a real issue, if you guys cant solve this problem , i'm gonna have to find another browser as much as i hate too, you leave me no choice. shopping on amazon again, using the search found what i needed , went to close that window, once again firefox freezes completely , All i can do is close app. from task bar, i didn't want to do this, as i was watching a "how to" video on utube. tried using task manager, but only got a white window rest wud not load. Only choice left was disconnect internet and restart. is there anything i can do before giving up and restarting, not even able to screenshot, i dont understand why its only amazon website and when there is something in search window. i removed alternate search engines from firefox, can i run in troubleshoot mode all the time , if so, how can i keep it on and not return to regular mode..
