I exported a bookmark HTML file from IE9. After (successfully) importing the file into Mozilla8, no bookmarks (or "from IE" directory) are visible. Any ideas?

"I exported a bookmark HTML file from IE9."

You don't get the from Internet Explorer folder when do an export from IE and then importing the file into Firefox. That folder only appears when the "Import data from another browser is used" or when the "import data" function is used upon the initial installation of Firefox.

When you are viewing the Library window, in the left column you should be able to open the All Bookmarks folder and in that folder you should see Bookmarks Toolbar and Bookmarks Menu folders with pluses, and an Unsorted Bookmarks folder. The Bookmarks Menu folder is where all those IE bookmarks are located.

Or you could open the Bookmarks sidebar view using { Ctrl + B } and then open the Bookmarks Menu folder.

Dbellca82 was giving you old information from Firefox 7 and earlier versions. The "Import" feature in the Library window was changed in Firefox 8 and is a bit different than what was used before when there was a separate "Import" menu item in the File menu on the Menu bar.

If you do not already have a folder named From Internet Explorer in bookmarks you can merge your IE favorites with any existing Firefox bookmarks

From Internet Explorer: File>Import/Export-Export to HTML file

From Firefox:

Show All Bookmarks >Import & Backup-Import HTML..=From HTML file

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.

I did all that was shown in the link you provided. When I go into Bookmarks (via "show all bookmarks") nothing is there from IE - no bookmarks at all. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, imported the IE html file again (succesfully, according to Mozilla), but still no bookmarks. Please see attached image. Any ideas?

Thanks

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).

I am adding the image in the "Add Images", however, it does not seem to post and it will not let me paste to the text box. Anyhow...

Basically, I followed the "How to" link and after Mozilla says I successfully imported my bookmarks and I open the Library in Mozilla, the left hand pane shows History, Downloads, Tags, and All Bookmarks - that is all. When I expand All Bookmarks, nothing is there.

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, then importing...same result.

Any ideas?

I tried it agfain and it still wasn't there. However, in your post you said to import when installing, so I uninstalled (again) and reinstalled telling it to import from IE. Again, no bookmarks. Just for fun, I did the import from inside Mozilla and this time it appeared!! I don't know why it worked this time and not the previous 3 installs, but it is there so I'm happy!

Thanks to all for the help!!
