Why won't Firefox 26.0 let me close multiple tabs at once? I don't want to close one at a time!
Firefox has stopped allowing me to close multiple tabs at once. Instead, I have to close one at a time. It is really annoying when I have a lot open and I have to close each one.
Whenever I try to look this issue up, all I see is advice on "how to turn 'closing multiple tabs' off" -- well, I want to turn that ON. I do not want to close one tab at a time.
I'm going back to Internet Explorere if I can't get an answer to this.
Thank you.

Are you using the Tab contextual menu?
What is that?
The windows that comes up, does it say you cant close multiple tabs, or does it say you are closing multiple tabs and ask if you want to continue?
Your "red X" button is missing from the top right corner of the window?
I noticed you have an extension named Hide Caption Titlebar Plus which creates more room for tabs by hiding the traditional buttons when you have maximized the window. In theory, they will appear when you hover your mouse over that area, but if that doesn't work, you may need to switch the settings to show those buttons all the time.
Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, you can configure the Hide Caption Titlebar Plus extension by clicking its Options button, or if you prefer, you can use the Disable or Remove buttons if you don't find it useful.
Does that help?
When I disabled the Hide Caption Titlebar Plus, it allowed me to close multiple tabs again... so that's one problem solved.
Unfortunately, now I have 1 1/2 inches of wasted space at the top of the page again (when maximized). I don't see why Firefox thinks people need to see the name of the tab they're in at the top, when it's also written on the tab about 3/4 of an inch underneath that. Why purposely reduce the amount of work space, for no reason?
Do you have the Firefox maximized?
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
If the Firefox window is maximized then try to set the browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar to true on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location bar.
Hi debbiedw, Hide Caption Titlebar Plus can be set to show the buttons and to have the "red X" close the window. You just need to experiment with the options a bit more.
