I have set Thunderbird up in accordance to the instructions for email on this site. When sending emails, the email starts to send, freezes and I get a statement that says that:

Sending of message failed. Please verify that your Mail & Newsgroups account settings are correct and try again.

I do not have Newsgroups configured. I receive Incoming mail but cannot send mail. Settings for the incoming and outgoing mail are the same as in Outlook. I have tried ports 465 and 587 but with no success. I use AVG and do not have outgoing mail checked. Port:465 Authentication Method: Normal Password Connection Security: STARTTLS

Please advise.
