Possibly you have a bad add-on redirecting the tab. Please check in Firefox's Safe Mode:

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. (On Mac, hold down the option/alt key instead of the Shift key.)

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

In Safe Mode, all extension are disabled.

Can you access the Add-ons page and check your extensions? Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

Any improvement?

I clicked on "Tools" and choose "Add-ons". It appears that it is going to the Add-ons webpage but then google.com appears in the web address bar of my browser and the google.com webpage is displayed. I don't know what else to say.

Hi, do not know what is about, maybe something corrupted in the update.

Give this a try please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I removed two add-ons that I didn't recognize -- did this in Safe Mode. Then, restarted Firefox and now the link (Tools -> Add-ons) works. I'm not sure how the two add-ons that I removed got there and, unfortunately, I didn't document the two that I removed.

Anyway, the link to add-ons now works. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting back. Sometimes extensions are side-loaded as part of a free software bundle. It's worth an extra look in the Windows Control Panel, "Uninstall a Program."

After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help surface undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Be suspicious of everything you do not recognize/remember, as malware often uses important or innocent sounding names to discourage you from removing it.

Take out as much trash as possible here. If you're not sure, feel free to post program names or a screenshot of the list.
