You could if you purchased the thunderbird.com domain, which is for sale now, and then set up e-mail service to it.

Thunderbird, the e-mail application, does not provide e-mail service or e-mail accounts. It enables people to send and receive e-mail through their e-mail accounts at e-mail services provided by firms such as Google, Microsoft, and Apple.

Thunderbird is owned by MZLA Technologies Corporation, a subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation. Also it is thunderbird.net

Not sure if the Thunderbird staff https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/about/ get email addresses for work however those who work for Mozilla in a capacity that warrants one can be provided a @mozilla.org email address however they have to give it up when they leave. They are not provided to the general public.

Thunderbird is a email client as it is not a email service or server.
