I receive emails with PDF attachments regularly but today a problem... cant open attachments and get message... "Acrobat could not open (file name.PDF) because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." end quote. So I go to my gmail account and open duplicate cc copy there without issues. I also forwarded the original email to another pc and could view the file in Reader without problems. All these steps I've triple checked. I get the distinct feeling that Adobe is applying screws through their updates to sell annual subscriptions with monthly payments for later software versions. ie. forcing me to purchase Acrobat DC in replacement for Acrobat X. Here we call this "gouging". Where's the world going? I just wish for a Thunderbird add-on to facilitate opening and editing PDF's to eliminate what seems to be theft through stealth. I see the Adobe Acrobat X home page now has a advert pushing their new Acrobat DC with an "Upgrade Now" link. Coincidental?

On computer with Thunderbird; Do you have any Anti-Virus program scanning incoming emails? If yes, then access the AV program and stop it scanning emails. Do not simply disable the AV as the default one on OS may then take over the same job.
