The vertical scroll bar is missing. Not the one at the right edge of the screen, but the one that enables me to scroll through my mail.

Firefox does not have mail. Perhaps your question refers to some form of web mail or Thunderbird.
Yes, I use BT/Yahoo online via Firefox browser. There is no information in BT Yahoo and I do not have the issue on my office PC using the same combination.
