I recently upgraded Firefox and purchased a new computer. Now when doing online purchasing the yellow security padlock icon no longer is visible in the lower right hand task bar. How do I correct the problem?

I recently upgraded to a new version of Firefox and also purchased a new HP computer using Windows 7 Home Premium. I use AVG as my virus scanning program Now when doing online purchasing the yellow security padlock icon no longer is visible in the lower right hand task bar. How do I correct the problem? As you might imagine, I'm concerned about security fraud.

The lock icon is no longer there (as there is no longer the status bar)
