I blocked something instead of clicking allow by accident and my website won't work now.

I was on my company SharePoint and some warning message came up below the url bar asking if I want to allow or block and I accidentally hit the block button. Now I can't use Firefox for editing my list in SharePoint due to this mistake. I don't know how to fix this and need some immediate resolution since Firefox is my primary internet browser.

Help! It works in IE though just fine but I'd rather use Firefox.

Hello,

Assuming you have blocked a plugin, you can go to Tools > Add-ons and click the Plugins tab on the left. That should show you the list of plugins you have in Firefox and which you have allowed/blocked. Change the one you want from "Never Activate" to "Always Activate" or "Ask to Activate".

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately that isn't the issue. They are all set to Ask to Activate.

What you may have blocked then is an add-on that Sharepoint was going to install. In Tools > Options > Security, beside "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons", click "Exceptions...", can you add your Sharepoint address to the list of allowed sites?

I am not sure where or if Firefox keeps a list of blocked sites, but you can try to see if that works. I am not sure how fast Firefox will take in the setting so it might be safer to restart Firefox before going on the Sharepoint site.

My SharePoint site is already listed there as allowed. No bueno. :( Ugh! How aggravating!

Edit: One other thing could be Offline Web Content under Tools > Options > Advanced > Network. Can you check if you've allowed that?

It doesn't look like you have any extensions that would ask if you wanted to block certain content, and I'm not entirely sure what other things would pop up that you can block, besides pop-up windows? If no other solutions present themselves at a reasonable timeframe, then as a last resort you can consider resetting your preferences (you will need to reinstall your add-ons afterwards). After resetting, on the Sharepoint site it should ask you again whether to allow or block.

Firefox will save these things:

  • Bookmarks
  • Browsing history
  • Passwords
  • Open windows, tabs and tab groups
  • Cookies
  • Web form auto-fill information
  • Personal dictionary

These items and settings will be removed:

  • Extensions and themes, website-specific preferences, search engines, download history, DOM storage, security settings, download actions, plugin settings, toolbar customizations, user styles and social features will be removed.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

For Firefox 29.0 and above:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox"Button reset. Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

You can try to clear the Site Preferences (possibly only for the last hour(s) if that applies).

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
