When I open an email, the whole thing is highlighted. How do I turn this off?
I have to right click on an empty space in the email to turn the highlight off. It is annoying.

Are you accessing your mail thru Firefox or an email browser?
In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.
Thank you!
Could I suggest going very slowly on your clicks to see whether that makes a difference? Firefox may select words, sentences, paragraphs or more when you double-click and triple-click, so we should rule that out.
Hi mlgrubbs, I can't figure out how that is happening. The only way I can get that type of selection is to first click on the message and then press Ctrl+a. But then it's blue, not gray (possibly a difference between Windows 10 and Windows 7?).
Do you have any add-ons that might have a reason to select text in a page or in an embedded frame? You can view, disable, and often remove extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.
Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions that would have a reason to select page content??
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
