Why can't I access a page that I have bookmarked and visited regularly?
Have been using the US Navy's weather site for years. Initially had to make a 'security exception'. Now it is completely blocked. No exception allowed.

Hi melonpit, could you copy/paste the text of the error page, and also of the panel that opens when you click the "Advanced" button, if the error page has one? If that doesn't include the address of the page, could you also mention that?
This is the site in question - https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/wxmap_cgi/index.html
Through the address bar it gave me the option of making an exception, but won't go any further than saying I made an exception and gives me the same error page. There is no "Advanced" button.

That's different than the "Your connection is not secure" error page I get, which is the typical one for .mil sites because they don't participate in the process to get their issuing certificate into the file Mozilla distributes with Firefox.
If you already got that page and made an exception -- which causes Firefox to trust the site certificate -- then there must be a different problem accessing the site. Does anything in this article seem relevant: Secure connection failed and Firefox did not connect?
No, sorry. They're site was down for the 26th - 28th. I thought that might have something to do with it, but if you're able to access it.... so frustrating. I even found their exception in my preferences folder/certificate manager. Says it 'expires' on March 10, 2019.

I get the same error even with the DoD certificates installed, so you may need a CAC (Common Access Card) to access this website.
Sigh. This is so frustrating. I'm not a tech person, but rely on this, among other weather sites for my area.
I'm a part of a volunteer fire department in a remote area of the coastal mountains on the Pacific Coast. Any and all weather info is pertinent, and since NOAA has deemed anything off the coast as super top secret, this has been the only site to provide any sort of advanced information.....
I"m trying to wrap my head around a CAC, but truly don't understand why I would need one... (honestly, don't really understand what it is, and why I didn't need on before 4 days ago).
You would have to contact the website to check if anything has changed to their setup that could affect Firefox.
Did you try this site in other browsers?
