I am not sure what pages you refer to. Do you have an address of an example?

When searching for specific information it would greatly speed the shifting process if every page contained the date of the original post and the version of firefox referenced.

This would eliminate the need to read irrelevant articles that consume too much time and leads to frustrations. This is true since any given functionality changes between any given or even adjacent versions.

Under the date of the OP there should be a version number/reference; and, if the article is in reference to future or test version that data could be placed in the same location as well.

I have ran into this issue too many times as I try to find a correction to an issue in the support forums. Being able to know where to focus the eyes when searching allows for rapid progression through many pages if the basic information can be gleamed. This will help mostly avid users; but, then again, it is the avid users that are more apt to use data in this manner.

Currently I was seeking information on preventing or setting video play to my control needs, no play absolute, no play some pages, auto play etc...

In the first page there is no version and so reading further is necessary to obtain what exactly the post is in relation to.

In the second post there is neither a date not version; and, if there is to be these datas would need to be located in the exact same area of the page in order for a reader to use just an eye flicker to gleam in required info.

Issue I originally started with was to stop auto-play of all videos. Obvious for me was in the configurations media.autoplay.enabled-false and every other setting indicating the preference set in like manner to prevent autoplay and at this point in time I still lack that control.

Another reason to post the version and well as OP date is so that when read support the terminology remains consistent with the actual links in the firefox menus.

You may not think this slight detail is that big of an improvement as it is not recognised by the majority of users; but, if I did not have a notion of time to address this in this forum I would have just kept about my daily life without regard to this issue. Can you ask yourself how many others may fail to submit issues because of the pressures placed on time or do you think I am the only one?

On the First link, which links to a forum thread, you can see the original poster was using Firefox 60. So you can assume that fixes in that thread were applicable to Firefox 60.

In the knowledge base articles, they know which version of Firefox you are using, and dynamically update the articles to be relevant to your version of Firefox. You should always be using the latest version.

Hi gillybig, it is challenging to surface updated information because search recognizes how many times a thread has been found useful, which tends to prioritize older threads. On the right side, in the "Question Details" box, you usually can find the poster's version of Firefox.

Regarding Autoplay, the article has a box at the top indicating it is for a future version of Firefox. If you want to modify those settings to match, and test the feature in its "not ready for prime time" state:

These are the Firefox 63 settings

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste autop and pause while the list is filtered

To set your preferred behavior:

Ask on a site-by-site basis (default for "Nightly")

• Double-click the media.autoplay.default preference and set it to 2
• Double-click the media.autoplay.ask-permission preference to switch the value from false to true
• Double-click the media.autoplay.enabled.user-gestures-needed preference to switch the value from false to true

Block autoplay by default

• Double-click the media.autoplay.default preference and set it to 1
• Double-click the media.autoplay.allow-muted preference to switch the value from true to false

Allow autoplay by default (default for Release)

• Double-click the media.autoplay.default preference and set it to 0 (or right-click > Reset)

I'm sure we'll learn more about the interaction of these various preferences and what sites can bypass them as more users experiment. If there are problem pages, feel free to share the links.

What I am asking specifically is for the version to be placed on the resulting page under the date without having to click additional link.
