Bookmarks completely non-functioning even after re-installing Firefox.

Once again Bookmarks has become completely non-functioning. I have tried all the solutions mentioned in the Support site and nothing works. I have tried using Windows Restore, to a date before the problem occurred. I have even tried completely un-installing and re-installing Firefox and the problem still exists, even default bookmarks do not display. Importing from Internet Explorer does not work although Firefox says it has. Can someone provide an answer or I will have to revert to using Internet Explorer which I have not done for years.

Have you tried deleting the places.sqlite file in your Profile folder?
