Animated GIF only playing when scrolling

Good day,

A few days ago I installed Firefox on my android phone (galaxy S 2). When I'm browsing 9gag.com there are animated gifs which you can start by clicking on it. However, it does not play. It starts playing when I keep scrolling the page in either direction, but stays stationary when I stop scrolling..

Any ideas?
