GMail and Google Plus constantly logging out when switching accounts
Hi,
I recently installed Chrome. I realize it's a native Google product so it's going to work differently but one of the things that makes me want to switch permanently over to using it is that I can't have multiple GMail accounts open at the same time, which if it's just me on the computer and my Firewall and virus scanner is up to date shouldn't make one bit of difference about security. But in Firefox if I have my main GMail account open which my Google + account is attached to and then open up my GMail arts account I'm logged out of Google +. I'm sorry that's rediculous. So if you wanna keep users that DON'T use Facebook and have multiple GMail accounts but only one Google + account you guys really need to figure out the right code to allow multiple GMail accounts to remain open. Also if I "Add Accounts" to the Google + drop down area in Firefox the next reboot those accounts are gone. In Chrome they stay. So there is some glitchy stuff going on there.
I don't want anyone chiming in and telling me to add in the other accounts to my main account, that's not the purpose of this post. I'm well aware of that ability in GMail and I don't choose to use it for personal reasons.
Thanks
Richard McCormick

Make sure you not running Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
If you not using Private Browsing Mode
- Tools > Options > Privacy > History>
- Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
- Select: [x] Accept Cookies from sites
- Accept third party cookies: "From Visited"
- Keep until "They Expire"
- Deselect: [ ] "Clear history when Firefox closes"
If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.

I can't believe it. You totally solved my issue. Got all four GMail accounts open and Google + from my main account remains open, signed in and useable. Thanks so much! WOW!
Hi,
Got another issue. Not sure what's going on but perhaps your brilliance can shed some light. When I got home from work tonight and booted up the computer I found that all my added accounts >
GMail> Upper right picture or name of account drop down menu> Add Account.... I added the other 3 GMail accounts there.
All was fine this AM. I was able to log in to the other accounts, keeping Google + active without being signed out. Got home tonight and that Add Account area was once again blank and I could no longer log into other accounts without being signed out of Google +. Once I added them back in to the main account's Add Accounts area all was well again.
I really don't relish doing this upon each reboot. Is there a fix for this too?
Thanks again
Richard
But that's what I was referring too.. it's the Add Account thingie but it's loosing the added account info when I reboot and log in using Firefox. If I use Chrome and add the extra accounts it stays with each reboot and logging back in using Chrome. Not tried it with IE but really don't want to have to if I can avoid it. lol
Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.
- Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.
I just reinstalled Firefox last night from scratch so this info isn't really relevant to this issue.
I also wish to have more than 1 Gmail account open at once but I am not eager to open my PC to the 'cookies' world. Please add explanations as to how that effects my world-doesn't it make it possible for all sites to add info about my interests, activity, what I search for, I need you to describe the change that happens when alter the setting that OK's cookies. Thank you, Sandra
Cookies retain login information, which is why you can only be logged in to one account at a domain.
Take a look at the Multifox addon. http://br.mozdev.org/multifox/
While I said I'd like to be able to open more than 1 Gmail account at once-my main issue was and is that I am not able to lo-gin to main Gmail account within Firefox but have no problem logging in when I use Chrome! I have read other instances of this situation by others. I have been unsuccessful in setting that as a topic within support, however. I have no clue why a password is fine when used in 1 browser but automatically not accepted in another and have been using Firefox without issue until recently for many years. I disabled Gmail manager in hopes that it might make a difference but it did not. IN fact, I disabled many ad-dons last might in hopes of resolving this issue but no changes happened. I also can open the same gmail account using S4 cell without issues. Please address this issue as I cannot set it as separate issue but so pleased that you responded. PLEASE! Address this issue and I look forward to your response as it is very important to me. It has caused me to consider stopping use of FF which I find hard to believe but this is frustrating.
