Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

They are not the same, but do the same job.

Type about:customizing<Enter> in the address bar. In the new window, look for the icon. When you find it, hold down the left button on it, and move it to where you want it to be. You can move any of the icons you want from here, but some icons are locked in place.

I de-installed Avast Virus protection. Still could not get the You tube download icon to appear on my Firefox toolbar. Then I installed AVG virus protection. same deal. However, I notice when Firefox tells me I have installed the Youtube download add-on successfully, the proper icon DOES appear on the toolbar momentarily. But when I x-out the window in which Firefox informs me my add-on installation was successful, that icon disappears.

Type about:addons<Enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

Select Extensions, locate the add-ons. Press the Options button for each and check the settings.

I have download helper installed and have verified that it is listed in the add0ns. However, the icon does not appear on any taskbar and does not show up in the customize screen either. What is happening?

Did you try to click the Restore Defaults button?

• "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
• View > Toolbars > Customize

• if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
• if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup

I did both, no joy. I have DLH on a second laptop and two other desktops and everything works fine. It is just my wife's laptop....opps, that may be the problem but don't tell her!
