Where, O where, has my address bar gone? (And how do I get it back?)

My location bar has disappeared. There is only the search bar. I want two separate bars, not one. How do I get back my location bar?

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

You have the Classic Theme Restorer extension and that makes the Navigation Toolbar work differently. You can check the settings of this extension in its Options/Preferences in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions. It is also possible to hide the Navigation Toolbar when CTR is installed and enabled.

Make sure all toolbars are visible.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
  • View > Toolbars
Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
  • if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup

You can try to delete the xmlstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

I feel like an idiot, not checking to make sure all toolbars were checkmarked so they'd be visible. But I'd been dealing with some other problems, including a struggle getting the new version of Firefox (34) in place, and I was pretty tired, lol. All I needed was to put the checkmark back next to the extra toolbar I have that creates the space for my address bar. Thanks for helping out.

It turned out to be fixed with the Show/Hide Toolbars feature. Thanks for making your suggestion, philipp.  : )
