Not tagging correctly with filter

I'm having trouble setting up filters correctly to tag various messages. For instance:

Filter 1: Tag as red Match any of the following: From, to, bcc contains any of these: ruby.com Asana Slack

Filter 2: Tag as green Match all of the following: Subject contains invitation

Some messages qualify for Filter 1, some for Filter 2, and some for both. Filter 1 turns the message line red in the mailbox. Filter 2 turns it green.

When the filters overlap — which happens when I get a google invite that includes an email from ruby.com — the messages are frequently get tagged as red (Filter 1), regardless of which filter is listed first under Tools > Message filters.

In those cases, you can see both the red and green tag in the email and sort by the red or green tag, but the message line in the mailbox appears as red. I want all invitations to appear in green. I have removed the tags and changed the order numerous times, and red seems to override it.

Alternately, in some cases where the filters overlap, the messages are only getting tagged as green (Filter 2), with the red tag not showing up at all.

When the filters overlap, in all cases I'm wanting messages to be tagged as both green and red, with the message line appearing as green in the mailbox.

What am I missing?

When multiple tags are applied to a message, the color in the Threads Pane is the color of the tag with the lowest number, no matter which order they are applied. So, if a message is given a red tag (1), it will stay red in the pane when a green (3) tag is applied, before or after the red tag is applied.

If you change your filter 1 so that, e.g. a blue (4) tag is applied, the color in the pane will be green for messages having blue and green tags. Custom tags can be defined in Preferences/General if necessary.

I don't know why overlap messages sometimes only get tagged green. Perhaps do some tests while the filter log is enabled.
