ff 95.0.2

I play 2 games. After reaching a certain level, it is nice to begin where I left off. It used to save on v 88.1 Now I have to start over every time. Except once. It is not worth the effort anymore.

Added as exceptions, so I don't delete them when I clear cache and cookies. That is the way I used to do them.

Thank you.

It shouldn't make a difference whether a tab is pinned or not pinned when you reload a tab. I've never had any issues with reloading pinned tabs to refresh the content. If the page is really stuck then open the page in a new tab and pin this tab and close the not working tab as it looks that something is wrong. If it happens often the check for issues caused by extensions.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you.

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" keeps cookies with an allow exception
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear cookies clears all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"

Hey, cor-el,

I just checked this: using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" keeps cookies with an allow exception

I never had anything checked before. Will let you know if it works - consistently.

Thank you.

cor-el,

It didn't work.

WOW.

Thank you.

You may have to clear existing cookies for those websites after making changes to the cookie exceptions to apply the new rules.

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies for websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Settings).

"Remove the Cookies" for websites that cause problems:

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Data"

"Clear the Cache":

  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> [X] Cached Web Content -> Clear

Makes sense, sort of.

Trying one now and the other one another day, when I am up to starting at level one again.

Thank you.

Happy New Year!

It worked for a couple of days. Just entered a game now and it was back down to level one. WHY!!!!!!!???????

 My settings haven't changed since I followed your last instructions, which worked well.

Thank you.

I am still dealing with nonsense. I clear cache daily. One time I deleted and re-added one website and it was fine. Today I cleaned the cache mid day, instead of last night and today I am back at level one.

This is ridiculous. Along this vein, I have regular websites where I read news and visit for other reasons several times daily. I check the box for privacy protections. Those used to ask me periodically to update my settings. Now, every single time I open the website - news, other frequently visited websites, I am being asked to okay the use of cookies.

I added Politico to my cookie exception list and LA Times because I have a subscription, but my cookie choices (without login) and my login at LAT are requested every single day. I do not logout at the LAT because I read the paper often. Logging in avoids the annoying popups which are disabled upon subscribing and Politico must be read without Adblock Plus on. Rock and a hard place.

So, why? If I am being a little unclear, please know I will do better next time. Really annoyed.

Thank you.

Try to leave a pinned tab open to those websites if you visit that often.

What is a *pinned* tab?

What is the difference in FF, though? These are annoying changes.

Thank you..

You can pin and unpin a tab via the right-click context menu of a tab. When a tab is pinned then it is moved to a special container at the far left side of the Tab bar and only shows the favicon and not the text label. See:

cor-el,

I like the solution a lot, but, naturally, I ran into an issue. The page froze. Refresh doesn't work and ctrl + shft + R doesn't work either. How to reload the page when it is stuck?

Thank you.

cor-el,

Running into more issues than acceptable. 1. hit refresh twice (sound was off for some reason) and when it refreshed, I had to start from the beginning again. 2. after restarting, after updating FF version, I had to start from the beginning again.

Too much!

Otherwise, I love the pinned website idea for games.

Cookie Manager???

Thank you.
