When you bring up the find function and start typing in the word your looking for it jumps to whatever has the first few letters. This is fine and the way Firefox has always worked, however recently with 3.6 if you are searching say, Fallout, you can get fal typed in and it jumps to Fall but then you can no longer type in the find box without clicking in the field again. Then you can add one or two letters and again it'll jump to the next word with those letters but again it stops you from typing in the find field. It's really frustrating if your looking for a phrase because it'll take you several minutes of adding two characters to the find field, then having to click on it again, then adding two more, and so on. The only work around I've found is to type the word or phrase into a notepad or like and copy then paste into the find field.

I've got the same problem on all my installations of Firefox.

-Home PC with dual booting Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 Ultimate

-Laptop with Windows XP SP3

Another user had this problem and the posts in reply stated that this is a problem caused by a conflict with the "Fast Video Download" add-on. To avoid the conflict, click on the FVD icon (bottom right, on the Firefox status bar); chose "Options" and you will probably see an option to "Disable SearchMenu". Click it, it will disappear and, the next time you look, the option will be to "Enable SearchMenu". This means that it is now disabled and the conflict with your Find function should cease. The other user's post is entitled "The Find bar for finding text on a page has changed behavior and it is frustating to use". See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/for.../619443
