I have been using Firefox for awhile now, but I couldn't ever get my rear speakers to work. I have two sets of speakers and they are plugged into different ports on my sound card. The front speakers work and the headphone jack in the front works, though. I have a Realtek sound card and I went to the audio manager there and changed my rear speakers to front; it works, but the sound quality is bad(too much bass). I can live with this, but I was just wondering if Firefox supports front and rear speakers or if there's a workaround.

Does you have this problem with any other programs?

It is the same with Chrome, but iTunes and Songbird(Which is built from Mozilla's engine, I believe) work.

Firefox doesn't play audio / video file all by itself, it uses the appropriate plugin for the file type that is being played. Chrome would likely use the same plugin that Firefox uses for most applications - it's basically the IE/ActiveX type for most applications vs the NPAPI type that most non -IE browsers use. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NPAPI - Not every plugin offers the same features for NPAPI versions of their plugin that they do for their IE / Trident version of their plugin. But the strange thing is that it seems to work for you in Songbird and not Firefox.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. If I play a music file in Songbird (an mp3 on my computer) then it will play with all speakers. But if I use the web browser and try to play a video, such as YouTube, then only the front speakers work.

i have the same problem, but after updated to ff 13
