When I try to open up a linked pdf, Firefox keeps asking me where I want to save it!!

Firefox never used to do this. It does it with our Intranet site and on other external sites. I don't want to save the pdf. This is very infuriating and if it is not resolved I will change to another default browser.

Also a recent Firefox update to v 23 causes our Intranet https site to be blocked. We have to select allow. Everytime we go to another page the same thing happens. It is hopeless and totally unworkable. How do I get back to v 22?

In order to change the default reader for PDF files (allow Firefox to open the PDF instead of saving locally), follow these steps:

  1. Go to Tools > Options (or Firefox > Options).
  2. In the Options window, select the Applications tab.
  3. In the Search field, type PDF. You should find Portable Document Format (PDF).
  4. On the right handside you should find an Action column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose Preview in Firefox.
