Where can I get the Firefox version 28 install exe file for windows?
Can anyone point me to the firefox version 28 exe file fore windows?
I can find this link " https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ " but it lists a number for version 28s (28.0, .0b1/2/3.../9) and the sub-directories there are a mess of stuff that I have no idea where to go and what to get.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I updated to 29 and the GUI change is too much for me, so I installed a really old version of ff and am looking to update back to 28 until I feel like I want to adjust to 29.

Hi,
I can point you to the download link if you want but first, here are a few suggestions for restoring the old design. I hope you’ll find one that works for you:
- Use the Classic Theme Restorer to bring back the old design. Learn more here: How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox
- Use the Add-on Bar Restored to bring back the add-on bar. Learn more here: What happened to the Add-on Bar?
Or if you want to go back to a previous version, completely feel free to use the old, unsupported, and insecure versions of Firefox. Please remember that this puts your machine and personal data at an increased risk. You may then wish to mitigate that by having well rehearsed bare metal restore strategies or using a virtual machine.
You were in the right spot, but you weren't looking right. The 28.0 was the right one to go to. The rest, 28.0b1-b9 are beta versions. This is the download link to 28, just choose your language
- https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/28.0/win32/ (default English is en-US
Personally, as a user and NOT a Moderator, I would recommend using an alternate browser instead of migrating to an older version that will become insecure in just a few releases.

i used this one: https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-28.0&os=win&lang=en-US
Great! That looks like the perfect one. Now, just in case the Stub fails, you should download the Firefox 28.0 Setup.exe
Hi Nugee,
sorry you are having problems.
I will make a couple of general posts then maybe it is worth discussing your specific problems they may be solvable.
I strongly advise against using Firefox 28 it is outdated unsupported and not secure. Once fixes are made and publicised they become open to exploits, and the longer you use outdated software the higher the risks to your System and Personal Data.

Firefox remains customisable. Maybe some of this information helps explain the improvements.
Try the new design, if it does not grow on you there are ways to make it more like the previous version.

Each setting you see in a computer program you use requires work; when a developer wants to build something new or improve something, he or she has to go through each related (hidden) setting and test if it still works like before and do that on each platform Firefox runs on. That's Apple's Mac OSX, various flavours of Linux and various flavours of Windows, including Windows XP. This costs time, lots of it, and that amount grows exponentially with each setting that's added. This comes on top of our work to continuously fix, improve and innovate Firefox.
That's why we also removed the tabs.onTop preference. Awesome community members, who were unhappy about that change, created the Classic Theme Restorer add-on. They deserve our collective hugs.

Why have you changed design in new Firefox 29.0? /questions/998084#answer-566525
Are you having any particular problem ? We may be able to suggest a workaround.
Have your say. Note Firefox 29 is to some extent work in progress.
People helping here are mainly volunteers and users of Firefox like you and I. If you feel strongly about the new changes I would suggest you make a short comment and provide feedback on https://input.mozilla.org/feedback for the people who decided on the changes to actually see it.
Personally one of my major gripes is that the upgrade happens without prior warning of major changes, and then we are left in a changed Firefox trying to find out what works still.
Sure the new features can best be demonstrated from the new version, but some prior warning with a chance to read up about the changes would surely help.

Moses and rudebutt1, thank you very much... I found the files at both links! (https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/28.0/win32/en-US/ )
And Moses, thanks for the customization tips for ff29. I have looked at the page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox and commented on it (I'd like to see a before and after pic to see how effective the GUI revert is with ff29 and the add-ons v.s. ff28).
I have also attached a screen image of my current firefox version and its look (I had to install version 13 since that is all I had on my pc). But the summary is, I like the MENU / ADDRESS BAR / TABS top down look but colour and texturing also makes a difference to me. I really don't like MS surface when I looked at it, or the latest version of iOS on the iPad (iOS 7). I guess this "flat/simplified" look is confusing to my eyes and harder to read for me.
Btw, this may be off topic but do you know of any forum or link on a discussion on why sw UI developers don't abstract the GUI/UI/UX from the core of a program, and thus provide multiple GUI/UI/UX that a user can choose from (including older style GUIs)? I've asked this question before on other forums, but rarely get a comment.
And thanks again, John.

Oh, Moses I downloaded the 24 MB file (not the stub). Thanks.
Oh, and I have gone and installed FF 24 ESR (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/) which is still supported from what I read (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=722484).
I have also taken Moses advice and started comparing other browsers. Here is a list of browsers out there (there is a lot of them): http://www.thewindowsclub.com/list-of-25-alternative-browsers-for-windows
Personally I like to avoid re-learning UI as it causes me a productivity hit when I need to, but since FF 29 is so different it might not be a bad idea this time to browse around for other browsers (haha).
Anyway, cheers!
This piece of misinformation has put me in the position I have avoided for years....CURRENT!!! I was looking for V28, found this page , loaded and found myself with 32.0.3...the worst place to possibly be!! Can someone give me an accurate link to get back to V28 please. This is not the first time this has happened.

The correct link is in this posting - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/999850#answer-572057 - all you need to do is to select the "localization" that you want. en-US for the English - US version.
