JUST SWITCHED FROM WIN 7 TO WIN 10. I SELECTED ALWAYS SHOW BOOKMARKS TOOLBAR, BUT ONLY A FOLDER WITH THAT NAME APPEARS IN THE TOOLBAR INSTEAD OF ALL THE BOOKMARKS IN THAT FOLDER SPREAD OUT ACROSS THE TOOLBAR, WHICH IS WHAT I WANT. HOW DO I GET THAT TOOLBAR TO STAY OPEN AND VIEWABLE HORIZONTALLY?

WIN 7 FIREFOX HAD A "VIEW" BUTTON IN A TOOLBAR AT THE TOP. I USED THAT BUTTON TO SELECT VIEWING ALL MY BOOKMARKS IN FOLDERS IN A COLUMN AT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN. THIS IS CRITICAL FOR MY WORK BUT I HAVEN'T FOUND ANY WAY TO DO IT, NOR COULD I FIND AN ARTICLE DEALING WITH EITHER OF THESE BOOKMARKS ISSUES.

(Sorry for all the caps. Vision issues make it easier for me to type that way.)

Chosen solution

You can toggle the bookmarks sidebar via "Ctrl+B"

  • you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar with the View menu temporarily

Thank you so much! Ctrl+B works perfectly.

Alt key also works, but F10 logs me out of Win 10! So it appears menu bar can only be turned on temporarily. I suppose it's a decent solution to allow the windows to have maximum vertical real estate.

You can have the menu bar always visible. There are various ways to achieve this.

  • View -> Toolbars
    *you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily

You can also do this via the Customize page.

  • Right-click empty toolbar area or the "3-bar" Firefox menu button -> Customize
  • "3-bar" menu button -> More Tools -> Customize

The same for the sidebar.

  • View -> Sidebar
    *you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily

In Customize mode you can drag the Sidebars button to the Navigation Toolbar.
