Hello, I just removed (I think) mysearchdial.com from my computer following the steps provided on malwaretips.com However, I was never successful in disabling it as an add-on throughout the process; removal/disabling was "grayed out" as an option. So I elected to remove it from my IE browser and continue with malware removal steps. After completing all of the malware removal steps, the add-on disappeared for Firefox. But I still had trouble with Mozilla's search function. So I uninstalled then reinstalled Mozilla. Same problem-- the search bar (in the center of the screen) for Mozilla still will not yield any results when I type in anything. In order to get search results, I have to type in google or some other search engine via the address bar.

Can someone please advise?

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager.

Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or are installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.

Extensions installed this way need to be removed via the settings (options/preferences) of the program that has added this extension or you need to uninstall this program via "Control Panel > Programs".

In Firefox you an only disable such an extension.
