Why did I get a email changing my security options? I can't reply without being sent a blank email with no recipient address. Why aren't I getting my mail now?

Why did I get this and how to I read the terms and conditions this mentions? How do I make sure this doesn't happen in my preferences? I do not wish to opt in, but there seems to be no place to opt out. I looked through preferences and there isn't anything useful there. Here is the text of the notification I received. It appears that unless I agree to this invasion of privacy I cannot use your service. I have found no way to review your privacy policies to find out if I can opt out. If my only choice is to allow you to read, send, delets, and manage my email, I'll find another third party software platform.

Sounds like the typical message from gmail when you want to use a 3rd party email client like Thunderbird. Is it from gmail?

Assuming this is a Gmail account. You get this prompt when your Gmail account is IMAP, and you set 'OAuth2' as 'Authentication type' in your account settings.

I don't know how this is an 'invasion of privacy'. Learn how OAuth2 authentication works. In any case, you're using a Google service. So you should direct any complaints to Google.

As said before, learn how OAuth2 authentication works. If you deny Thunderbird access to your Gmail account, you won't be able to access your messages as long as you use OAuth2 authentication, which is the method Google prefers.

In that case you could revert to password based authentication, but then you'll have to jump through other hoops. The latter would also apply to other email clients.
