I would like to be able to edit (mostly delete) an address from a list when I send a new email.

I have several lists that I use to address new and/or forwarded emails. When I use a list, I would like for all the list addresses to be displayed in the email so that I can delete any entry that was inserted from my list and I would like each address in the list to be assigned the same "To" type, e.g. all addresses would be sent as "Bcc:". That way, I could also edit an individual address to receive their mail as a "To:" option or a "Cc:" option etc. I use "Bcc:" quite a bit. Also, I would not want any action to modify my original list.

Thank you very much as this would make life a lot easier for me.

Another method is to select the mailing list from the Contacts sidebar (F9 in the Write window), right-click the list, Edit List (Ctrl+I), click OK, and the list contacts are displayed in the sidebar. Select the ones you want to send to while holding Ctrl, then click and Add to button at the bottom of the sidebar.

The method mentioned above, i.e. select the list in Address Book, then click the Write button, also works. But you should not right-click the list in All Addresses and select Write, i.e. you must select it from an address book such as Personal Address Book.

If you use 'Write' to create new email, then you can add the mailing list from the Contacts Sidebar, but it will appear as a list name and not individual entries. But....if you click on 'Address Book', select the mailinglist name and then click on 'Write', you get individual names which you can edit as required.

Thank you Toad-Hall for your 2 replies. The add-on didn't work as I have the latest rev of Thunderbird (52.3) and this add-on only works with earlier revs.

When I use your other method (from address book, right click on my list and then select "write" from the displayed options) I do NOT get each address listed, just the name of the list.

I also need to access each entry in my list when I "forward" an email, so I am hoping that the add-on will be updated in the future and it will allow me to do what I wish.

Again, thank you for your input.

Thank you sfhowes.

The only method I could get to work for me is the following:

"Another method is to select the mailing list from the Contacts sidebar (F9 in the Write window), right-click the list, Edit List (Ctrl+I) [my version uses ALT+Enter as the shortcut], click OK, and the list contacts are displayed in the sidebar. Select the ones you want to send to while holding Ctrl, then click and Add to button at the bottom of the sidebar."

Again, thank you for the help!
