Especially on startup: Firefox will cause computer to lock up and sometimes hard reset. The results are frequent but not every time. Does not happen with Chrome, but I'd prefer to use Firefox if possible. Also seems to be a memory leak, I have to restart firefox every hour or so or it will end up using all my memory. Tried starting in safe mode, have not been able to replicate. Tried starting firefox in safe mode, same. I have done my best to turn off or eliminate any and all addons and extras.

Try to disable accessibility services in Firefox.

Was this a clean install or upgrade?

This is the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.1 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

I can't tell if this worked yet, but I lost all of my information as a result. All of my favorites, bookmarks, etc.

Well they should have been there as they are not in the folders I told you to delete. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data If they are still around they may have put themselves on the Desktop as OldFirefoxData or it Created a new Profile as the other one was corrupt.

So the URL above shows the location of your Profile, Can look to see if there is 2 alpha-numerical Folders. If so need to find out which is the new profile. That should prove to be easy I think with a mouse-over and should tell you the dates of creation or Right Click then Properties.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-lost-or-missing-bookmarks Should help you put together the new profile and recover any thing that is not corrupt.

If not already running 57.0.2 Please Update : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Ok, I've recovered my bookmarks, but...crash again.

I've also found WMI errors leading to search errors logged just before the most recent crash. Not sure if that's causal or even correlative.

Pretty good change it's your video drivders, Go download the latest videocard drivers direct from Intel/AMD/NVidia, restart.

Load firefox and in "about:support" click "refresh firefox" then test. Also make sure after that, that in about:support is says D3D 11 or OpeGL beside Compositing

I updated my video drivers. No luck. Most recent even log on crash is:

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.
