Lightning is in the wrong language

I’m trying a new OS (Solus). Thunderbird is installed by default and the system language is Irish. I set it up to share the working profile from Ubuntu and all is well except that Lightning is entirely in English. It isn’t that way in Ubuntu.

How can I fix this?

I've seen this reported before, and I think the problem was a packaging issue at the distro

Now I’ve gone back to Ubuntu and it’s in English there too! I don’t understand how its language can be detached from the rest of the program and the OS locale.
