I use 118.0.2 (64-bit) because I do not like the newer versions, but every time I open it I have to decline two consecutive Firefox popups urging me to upgrade to the newest version. Since I open Firefox dozens of times a day, these constant popups are driving me crazy. How can I stop them? Thanks.

While it's not recommended, you can try the following:

  • Quit out of any running instances of Firefox
  • Open (or create) this file in a text editor: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution\policies.json"
  • Type or copy-paste the following into that file:

{

   "policies": {
       "ManualAppUpdateOnly": true
   }

}

  • Save the file making sure it does NOT end up with a `.txt` extension
  • Start Firefox

You should switch to the 115 ESR version which still gets security updates.
