Started to download the newest version of Firefox, and was warned AVG wouldn't run while using it, so I stopped installation. I'm not dropping AVG. Is Mozilla fixing this?

Chosen solution

No, there is nothing for Mozilla to fix it is an AVG Security issue. Posted on their Forum they will have a fix mid- September maybe. AVG says to watch for an Update that might fix it.

Mlauzon48 it is pretty clear that the issue is with AVG, do to the nature of the header you put on this post it would be helpful to post a comment and mark this solved. That way others can see that AVG is working on it.
