When I click the icon it doesnt start if I wait about 10 minutes it does
Every other programme works fine but TB NEVER opens on 1 click. If I click several times on the icon then 10 minutes later I have 4 or 5 versions trying to open.

sounds to me like you have more of an issue than Thunderbird. But have you tried reinstalling it. That might clear the issues with whatever third party programs are causing exceedingly slow startup.
