When I opened a message it used to appear in this list. If I clicked on the X in the tab it disappeared from the list, but was still in the Inbox. Any changes I made were saved and appeared the next time I opened Thunderbird. Now when I open Thunderbird the same list appears every time. The list includes Tabs labeled Inbox, which are blank. If I make changes to the list it is different, but the next time I open Thunderbird the same list appears again. What might be causing this and how can I cure it? It happens also if open Thunderbird in Safe Mode. Craig Miller

Help/Troubleshooting, click Open Folder, close TB, delete session.json. TB should now open with the layout and open tabs that were there at last closing, as well as open in the folder that was open at closing.

This "list" is the open tabs in the application. Try right clicking one of the tabs and select close all other tabs from the menu.
