Saved bookmarks aren't being displayed on bookmark list even tho they were saved/addded. FF failes to save bookmarks.

Hi

When I save bookmark in e.g. folder XYZ which already holds e.g. 65 links, the new bookmark is not displayed. Same goes for general saving where either bookmark is not displayed, or in few cases it wasn't even saved. wth is going on with your bookmark system? FF is honestly the only browser which has unreliable bookmark system. It's like FF on a whim stops saving bookmarks, or choose to not display more than X links in given folder. This is just absurd.

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.

This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.

If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

  • keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
  • you lose the history when a new places.sqlite is created

You may have to restore an older bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder via the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

Found what was the issue.

Your Sync service keeps duplicating folders, and links all over the Bookmark system, so instead saving links to my actual folders it was saving them into various copies of folders, and that's why it looked like links aren't displayed in given folder.

I went into my account, and logged out all the devices, deleted all the duplicates, and only then turned on Sync, and it looks like so far there are not duplicates, and everything is saved where it belong.

Ps. Show All Bookmarks doesn't exist in my menu, do you guys copy paste old info???
