I am a Realtor and need to upload PDF files to the website www.dotloop.com. This site only allows uploads of PDF files. When I attempt to upload a PDF the website returns an error message that says "You Can Only Upload PDF Files". When I call the website support they say it is a problem with Firefox mis-identifying the file type to the website. I attempted to unistall firefox and reinstall (suggested by .dotloop support) but this did not fix the problem. Is there a setting or some update to fix this?

Hi RandySullivan31,

I am not entirely sure how I can test this, but please try these troubleshooting steps:
  1. Open the profile folder [Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data ]and look for the mimeTypes.rdf file
  2. Move that file to the trash
  3. Restart Firefox and try to upload again :-)

However if you try to upload a document and open up the web console under Firefox > Tools > Developer Tools > Web Console please report any errors that come up when the error "You Can Only Upload PDF Files" pops up at the same time.

[dev.webcombat.com] is a site dedicated to the Web Compatibility bugs. Please file a bug with them with the site and the logs from the web console as well as the steps you took to produce the logs. Thank you for reporting this, with this information or if you need help with this I am happy to help.

Try to use the Live Http Headers extension to see with what MIME type the file is uploaded.

Does anyone know why this is repeatable? I've deleted the mimetypes.rdf on the same computer almost daily due to this exact issue. I've even created a brand new firefox profile and the problem recurs on the computer.

Is there a registry setting or something somewhere else that would cause this corruption to be repeated on the same computer over and over again?
