Hi,

I'm using FF 30 on both my mac and android. I had everything working fine on earlier versions of FF, but as I had to change my phone, I reinstalled FF, upgrading to FF30 in the process. Now I want to get my bookmarks etc back on the phone, so I set up an account on the android, connected to it, and connected to it with my mac as well. All the sync options seem to be checked correctly, I get no error message and both devices tell me I'm connected to my account. Still I can't get the bookmarks on the android. Can you please help me out ? Cheers

OK so the next thing would be to check that the account names on both match. The desktop dialog you already know how to find. On Android is is a little complicated.

  • Open the Android OS settings
  • Scroll to the Accounts section
  • Click on the Firefox item <if it called "Firefox Sync (deprecated)" old Sync is set up on the Android device>
  • check that the account name matches on your Android device and desktop
  • If no Firefox items show up in accounts press the add account button and choose "Firefox"

Sounds like you have the old and new Sync clients running. Old on desktop and New on Android. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-update-to-the-new-firefox-sync for steps to fix this.

Hi kbrosnan and thanks for replying to my question. I did as explained in the link you provided but in Sync parameters, I had no way to unlink my computer. I guess this is because I am using the new sync client. Just to be sure, I deleted the account, removed it from Android as well, and recreated it, but that didn't do the trick... Any other option ? How can I check that the database in the cloud server has indeed received the information from my computer ? That would help identify where the problem is...

If you open the Sync settings on desktop does the settings say "Pair a Device" below the account info? See attached screen shot.

If so then unlink the device. Restart Firefox and then reconnect the desktop computer to Sync. If not reply and I'll follow up with the Android side.

Thanks again for your replies. I had the old sync this weekend but by using the online help, I de-linked my devices, and installed the new sync. This didn't solve the issue. What I have now in the sync is as attached.

Hi kbrosnan. Thanks again for your help. Actually, yesterday night (about 2h after my last reply), the bookmarks suddenly appeared on the Android. That's weird as I had done nothing for the past 2 hours... But the most important thing is that it's solved (though I'd have liked to understand why it didn't work for such a long time...). So again thanks for your advices and your time.
