I use google as homepage and have no issues of lag. FF58.0.2x64.
This week, a couple of the animated doodles have caused the Google home page to become laggy for some users due to high CPU or GPU use. The exact pattern is unclear.
It's interesting that a new tab is not affected -- is that because it's not showing the Google home page?
Problem seemed to have stopped and typing reverted back to normal . Must have been the animated doodles after all ..
