When I change the name in an address book entry, it doesn't get reflected in the message display

I had an address book entry that had an incorrect name in the Name field. This incorrect name was displayed when I was viewing emails associated with that address book entry.

I went into the address book and changed the name field, expecting that the name change would be reflected when viewing the emails associated with that address book entry. The name was still incorrect when looking in the inbox (in the from or correspondents column) and when selecting individual emails.

Is there something else I need to do to get Thunderbird to reflect that the name has been changed?

Did you close the 'Address Book' after altering name to ensure all data was updated correctly?

Also check to see if you have more than one entry for that contact in the 'Address Book' In 'Address Book' select 'All Address Books' Sort by 'email addresses' so they get listed in alphabetical order. Enable the 'Address Book' column header.

Now look for the 'email address' of that person. If there is more than one entry using that email address they should listed one above the other and the 'Address Book' column will tell you which address book has that contact. One of them you edited the name - perhaps there is another entry.

Thanks for responding: By "Close the Address Book" did you mean click on the 'x' in the upper right hand corner of the Address Book window? If so, I did. I also verified that there is only one address book entry for the email that i changed the Name field in.

So it must be something else. I thought of deleting and then recreating the address book entry after exiting Thunderbird in the hopes that it would refresh the name field in all emails that came from that email address, but I didn't know if that would cause other problems.
