My Firefox 2 has never automatically updated. In the Firefox Preferences "Advanced" settings "Update" under "Automatically check for updates to: Firefox/Installed Add-ons/Search Engines", the first choice, "Firefox" is grayed or inactive, the other two are checked. Your tutorial indicates to check the Firefox box, but it is grayed, or inactive. How do I make it active?

The last version of Firefox that works on OS X 10.3.9 is Firefox 2.0.0.20 available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/

Starting with Firefox 3 the minimum requirements increased to OS X 10.4
