Firefox 8 changed how "open all in tabs" works for bookmarks. How do I get it back to the way it worked in FF7?

In fFF7, right clicking a bookmarks folder displayed a menu with "Open all in tabs" as the first item. Selecting this option closed all other tabs, then opened the group in new tabs. This changed in FF8--now the group is opened in tabs adjacent to the already opened tabs. How do I get it to act like it did in FF7 (and before) where the open tabs where closed before opening the new folder?

Thanks

Way to go, FF! A few more changes like this and we won't be able to tell you and IE apart from each other. In ver 7 you rearranged your tabbing menu to be just like IE ("open in new tab" moved to first item instead of 2nd where it had been for years), and now you keep the previous tabs open (including the first page launched with the new window) when opening a bookmark folder. Boo!

You could try the dev build of TabMix Plus (TMP); read about it here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2357645

Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.7 (general release) is now available from AMO:

So your advice for a feature that worked fine, was intuitive, and we want, but was removed from Firefox, is to add an extension? That's not helpful.

BTW, I solved it by going back to FF7, and turning off updates.

I am not happy with this new behavior, and looking for a way to get back to the old one, I have found that that extension solved the problem. Since it was okay with me (even if I'm not happy to be forced to install an extension), I though other could solve the problem the same way.
