Firefox (running on Mac OS X 10.8) got stuck in the middle of an update. When I force quit it and then tried to restart, I got the profile missing error. I followed some help threads that said to delete profile.ini but no such file existed anywhere on my computer (I've done multiple Finder searches). Help?

Try to remove the Firefox folder:

  • /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the $HOME/Library folder is a hidden folder.

Open Finder and use one of these:

  • Go > Go To Folder (Shift-Command-G) and in the dialog type: ~/Library
  • Open the "Go" menu and hold down the Option key to make the Library appear

There we go! Now, there is a folder on my desktop called "old firefox files". Is there a way to reimport my bookmarks and saved info from there?
