Natao arisiva ity resaka mitohy ity. Mametraha fanontaniana azafady raha mila fanampiana.

Cache used to be in a directory, and is now spread across MANY folders, preventing me from finding individual files in cache. I would like to know if there is a way to change this.

I am perplexed as to why Firefox now creates hundreds of folders for cache, when it used to be in a single directory. It is now impossible to find recently cached files. This is highly annoying. Is there a setting to put cache back in a single folder?

Earlier versions of Firefox had a default cache size of about 50 MB. In Firefox 4, it is vastly larger, computed as a percentage of hard drive size. To avoid poor performance on older operating systems, the cache was split into a huge number of folders. I don't think there is any way to change this.

Are you looking for files in order to save them? There might be add-ons or external utilities that can help with that. (Although some of the older tools may not yet work with the new folder structure.)

You can look at this extension for easier access to files in the cache.

That version is not compatible with Firefox 4.0.1 ,so you need to bypass the compatibility check:

I'm still using WinXP. Is there a module, etc. in the source that I could replace with the old source for the simple cache structure?

@harry1, there is a board on the unofficial MozillaZine forums for discussing alternate builds of Firefox. Perhaps you could get some assistance with your question there?
