Bookmark profile on desktop empty, can't sync mobile
I got the MixiDJ toolbar/search malware on my desktop with runs windows 7. I deleted the program from the control panel, but it came back. After reading a lot of forum info, I ended up resetting Firefox but...they didn't mention that you should backup your bookmarks. I have checked the profile folder and it's empty. My Samsung phone was synced to they were wiped out there as well. My Kindle Fire, however, is showing all of my bookmarks intact and only the following folders show as "Synced" for Firefox on KFTT: about:blank and a crochet site.
I've tried to sync it completely but I don't get the sync code when I try to add the device to my desktop. I also don't have the Sync Manager popup. When I open settings, I get a Sync tab but it just shows the 2 tabs listed above.
HELP!!!

It should probably have been sufficient to reset the prefs if MixiDJ has been removed from the programs.
Do you have a "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop?
If you have then you should find JSON backups (bookmarks-####-##-##.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder.
When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data). You will lose extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you've made.
It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
