my mail id is xxxx@hotmail.com. Am unable to access this with Firefox but opens with GoogleChrome. Since I have been using Firefox for 10 years I do want to use it. Other pages and Bookmarks open with Firefox -- problem is only with my hotmail account. It is accessible from my ipad too.

Unable to access means ?

  • Are you getting blank page?
  • Are you getting server not found?

Blank Page The problem with Hotmail is after you click the "SignIn" button it redirects to blank page and redirect to your homepage. if your internet connection is slow it stops at blank page. Refresh(F5) to goto your Inbox Page.

I do not keep history as I have set it up for clearing every time I close Firefox. Today I cleared cookies and pressed F5 which only resend the information. It did not help. With Google Chrome I am able to access but it takes long. In fact I am using Chrome browser now.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
  • In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

I found that after Firefox v29, a LOT of my settings and
add-ons were changed / reset. Try this; Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode;
Firefox Options > Advanced > General.
Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Then check ALL of your settings. Browser and add-ons. Then restart.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer Windows > Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Go thru the list and use a web search to check any that you don't know what they are.

I tried in safe mode. Once it opened but on subsequent attempts in Safe Mode the blank page only showed. On further inquiries with Tata Communications the call center person admitted that there is some connectivity issue on their broadband services in the Kolkata region of India. But when I talk to their engineer/technician he denies any problem. But I do find that even my iPAD is facing download problem on this network. So I am perplexed. At least Tata Communications should come clean. If anybody in Kolkata region is facing similar problem please let me know.

In safe mode the page opened once. But subsequent attempts the same problem repeated. It could be a problem of low bandwidth from the service provider in my region i.e Kolkata/India.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Is any data requested and loaded from the server if you check that in the Network tab in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
You need to reload the tab, preferably via Ctrl+F5 to bypass the cache.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

Clear the Cache
Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

and

Remove Cookies
Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy.
Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings.
There is a button on the right side called Show Cookies.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode; Firefox Options > Advanced > General.
Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart

I have tried it earlier. Does not help.

Firefox suggested that since this is a very elaborate procedure first try by resetting Firefox to factory default condition. But even this did not go through as Firefox comes up by saying that some open tabs is causing problem. I had only one open tab i.e. a blank home page.

I have the same problem - for weeks now am unable to access internet sites from email links - very annoying - must quit Firefox and then the link works (for one at a time) With all the recent 'upgrades' would appreciate it if you fix the problem - tried to erase History as recommended and Firefox crashed - which is happening all too often these days -
