I had Firefox setup so it works the way I like it and the latest update added 'suggested sites' for new tabs. I accept that they / you try to create new features but I don't like this feature. No problem with that but I want my standard page back that it used to load. The details are still available in about:config and browser.newtab.url but it does not load that page anymore. I removed details for the suggested sites and now it loads an empty page with a search bar. Any suggestions?

Hi, from Firefox 41, you need to use an add-on like New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.

Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.

Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

Hi and thanks for the quick response. It does solve the problem but it looks a bit backwards to override the application's settings with add-ons. Hope that's not the strategy for future releases of Firefox.
