Hi, I recently did a full system reset on my laptop as things were getting a bit sluggish.

I have re-installed all my normal applications but Thunderbird but it is now not working. It launches but any attempt to click on anything within the program after it's loaded throws the entire program into "not responding".

I have uninstalled McAfee and have given Thunderbird and exemption via Windows Defender but it's still not working. Thunderbird also does not work in 'safe mode' (have booted Thunderbird whilst holding shift), program still hangs and gets "not responding error". I can access both email accounts via webmail so I know this issue isn't on that end.

Any thoughts / ideas as to what might be causing the application to hang?

Thanks!

J

Thunderbird seems to launch ok when not connected to the internet. When I enable wifi and it pings the servers for my mails it freezes up.

Check your Firewall (which may be part of Anti-virus McAfee if you reinstalled it) Thunderbird must be in the list as an allowed program.

Hi, thanks for your reply. As I said, I uninstalled McAfee when I reset my laptop and gave it an exception via Windows Defender so that isn't what's causing this issue.

Test: Start / reboot your computer in 'Safe mode with networking' mode and then start Thunderbird.

Please post back results.
